The AC Therapist History
The Morales family, founders and owners of The AC Therapist, have a unique story that sets them apart from other HVAC companies in the Tampa Bay area. As Cuban immigrants, they bring a strong work ethic and passion for hard work to their business.
Their father, Aridel Morales, has been working with air conditioning since he was a young boy. Despite graduating as an Automobile Engineer in Cuba in 1982, he never had the opportunity to work in his field due to the country’s political and economic structure. Instead, he worked at a small HVAC company in Varadero, Cuba, where he learned the ins and outs of air conditioning.
When he wasn’t working, he grew a reputation as the go-to AC repair tech for all the local residents. Richard and his brother, Alex, would help him in the afternoons and weekends repairing ACs and building new ones to sell.
When the Morales family moved to the United States in 2011, Aridel began working for a remodeling company and later a large AC company in Tampa Bay. With his expertise and knowledge of the American construction industry, he and his son Richard opened their own AC company, The AC Therapist. The reason behind the name is because Richard was a massage therapist.
Firstly, they worked as subcontractors for other companies until Richard was able to get his HVAC Contractor license in 2017. From there, they grew their customer base with lots of customer referrals.The company has since grown with the addition of Alex, who joined the company after finishing college in 2020. Today we are a growing company adding new team members and helping Tampa Bay with any HVAC problems.

What Warranty do you Offer?
We offer 1 year labor warranty for most repairs, some maintenance related repairs like drain line flush only receive 3 months of warranty. When installing a new system, you receive 10 years of warranty on parts and 2 years on labor.

How Fast can you Repair my AC?
We aim to repair your AC the same day of your appointment. We can do this since we carry a lot of common parts in our van. If we need to order a special part from a supplier we aim to schedule the job for the same day or the day after. We always try to fix the ac as soon as possible to keep you cool and comfortable.

How does an AC work?
An air conditioning (AC) system works by removing heat and moisture from indoor air, creating a comfortable and cool environment. Here’s a simplified explanation of how an AC system works:
- The process starts with the refrigerant, which is a chemical compound that absorbs heat from the air.
- The AC unit’s compressor pumps the refrigerant into the condenser coil, where it releases the absorbed heat to the outdoor air.
- The refrigerant then flows to the evaporator coil located inside the indoor unit, where it absorbs heat and moisture from the indoor air.
- As the refrigerant absorbs heat, it evaporates into a gas and flows back to the compressor to start the process over again.
- As the air is cooled by the evaporator coil, the moisture in the air condenses into water droplets and is collected in a drain pan and drained out of the unit.
This process continues until the desired temperature is reached and maintained by the thermostat. The system is designed to cycle on and off as needed to maintain the desired temperature. A properly functioning AC system not only cools the air but also helps to dehumidify it, creating a more comfortable indoor environment.
